Keepin' Busy this Fall

First day of school!  One was ready the other not so sure!

Oh my, how they are growing up quickly.

Ready or not...a new school year begins.

The school year seems to be off to a great start.  Homework is prevalent in our house and we are keeping super duper busy with school, karate, piano and kid's choir.  However, I am enjoying the kids' busy schedules as it means less "screen time" (computers, videogames, tv...etc..)  It also makes the "down" time that much more appreciated.  Both kids are doing well and they both seem to really like their teachers which is great.  I have heard from both of their teachers.  H's e-mailed me to tell me that she is so impressed with H's academic abilities and that she has reached out to new students.  K's teacher wrote me a note saying that K is a very kind and hard working student.  She has a few academic goals for him this year but overall, he is doing very well.  I am pleased that he seems to be accepting the challenge of his nightly homework.  K is doing about an hour of homework 4 nights a week.  Although he dreads it, he is doing it and is working on quality.  I am really proud of both my kids.  I hope this momentum keeps up.

Last weekend, we spent a beautiful Sunday at a park with some family friends.  It was A's 11th birthday.  Where does the time go??  A and K are still very close and I love that!  I think they will always be good friends.  We enjoyed an afternoon of BBQ'ed food, feeding ducks and playing in the sand.  It was a very relaxing day for all of us.  I hope we will continue to spend more Sundays getting the families together.

K says he doesn't like to be chased by girls?!?!

Whatever????

R wrestling with K!  I think he won!

Love this kid!

Not really a little girl anymore?!

H attempting her karate on Dave.

Yeah, didn't really work out for you H, did it??

You are only as young as you act feel.

Building a volcano.

Getting pretty technical as they were making a replica of Mt. St Helens.

Volcano building!

H caused the erruption!

Still smiling after a long summer of work work work!  (You are almost there darling husband.  Two more weeks then you can actually sit down and relax for a bit)

Look Closely.  Do you see Annie??

Looking dignified!  She is getting older too.

We are keeping busy, but we are happy and healthy!  We are all ready for K to be done with Skeeters.  We are slowly making progress with achieving some of our goals (hence the second job).  At times, it is frustrating, but the other day I was able to step aside and realize how much our hard work is starting to pay off.  I am really proud of K's dedication to not only support his family but also to build our future.  We have learned so much in the last few years.  We have so much to look forward to especially in the next few months!!!  Until then....I'm off to grade papers, start laundry and cuddle up with my kiddos on the couch on this rainy Saturday afternoon.
